#6, 1859 20c Blue, stone A, a very fresh example in a pleasant pastel shade, margins ranging from complete to huge, used on registered cover front to San José de Cúcuta, tied by "Bogotá/Franca" oval handstamp in blue, showing red "Certificación á Bogotá/Salió en 12 de Nvbre de 1859" handstamp with date inserted by hand, compulsory blue "0" handstamps struck in angles following the norm to denote the registration, annotated as received on reverse with "Recibí Nvbre 23/59" and signature, as stipulated for registered mail by postal rules -usually registered mail in Colombia is represented in cover fronts, as postal clerks frequently only kept the cover front with the signed docket of receipt as a proof of delivery-, several creases not affecting the franking, a most remarkable piece, the earliest registered franked mail of Colombian philately, with only an additional example of registered mail recorded in the first issue, -the other item known was offered at auction in June 2008 with an estimation of $75,000-100,000-, registered mail in the early Colombian issues is a great rarity, as only the previously mentioned two registered items are found in the three earliest issues, with just one additional example in the fourth issue; this gem of Colombian philately is being offered for the first time at auction in this sale, and has been unknown to most dealers and collectors before the present occasion, ex-Santa María and Padre Posada.
