1700-1895 covers on dealer stock pages in a small binder, some pre-stamp including 1700 Edinburgh Bishop mark, 1829 Cape Town to Worcester with "Post Office General" crown cachet and 1835 with 'Star' Inspector's mark, stampless 1860 to Mexico and to San Francisco, a mint 1d Mulready, 3 x 1d blacks (each 3 margin) with various 1d reds including 1844 type cancel in blue and '5' in MC, a dozen or so surface printed (1855 1s etc.), 6d and 1s embossed to USA, 1d lilac with Jubilee 2d and 6d perfins on 2 1/2d stationery cover to USA (most attractive and unusual). Mixed condition and inspection recommended but plenty of interesting and useful covers.

1840-1911 dealer's stock in 2 counter books with an extensive range of material and whilst the condition is mixed (as is reflected in the estimate), the stock represents good value. We note 8 x 1d black and 11 x 1820 2d blue, 5 x 1s embossed plus pair with 2 x 10d and 6 x 6d. Plenty of used surface printed including SG 62-3, 87, 98 (4), 120b, 5s pl.2 (2), 151 (2) and 1883 high values (4 x 10s), with mint examples (mostly regummed with faults) including SG 66, 69/70, 80, 90, 153 (2)and 156. 1840-1990s, Extensive accumulation in large box in albums and stockbooks, on pages, etc., noted some used material including 1d black and 40 or so 1d reds with MC, a mint collection with substantial quantities of decimal commemoratives, booklet panes, sheets etc (high face value!). Also some pre-decimal issues in quantity, an attractive collection of mint Machins, 100 or so KEVII 1/2d on illustrated postcards (and a 'heads up', there is a 1912 2 1/2d blue on piece used in 'Smyrna' which has a good chance of being the Prussian blue shade).

1881-1940s, A fantastic and very comprehensive collection of mint controls contained in two albums, many hundreds with many mint n.h., including singles, blocks, vertical strips, horizontal strips, especially well represented in the "Kings" section with many different shades present though not identified; a superb lot for the enthusiast which would be difficult to replicate, clearly put together of several decades and this the first time of being on the open market; fine and rare.

1912-1929 A fabulous and valuable KGV mint collection of the specialised shades from the Downey Head 1/2d through to 1929 PUC £1 neatly written up and annotated as per the specialised catalogue, largely complete and all collected during the mid 70s to the mid 80s and many shades benefitting from RPS certificates of that time, condition good to very fine with many extremely fresh examples and collected for quality; generally lightly mounted mint, a wonderful study with room for expansion, viewing essential.

1913-34 A fabulous predominately mint (all with large part o.g.) collection of the specialised listed shades (identified by the owner), neatly written up on album pages, virtually all examples with good perfs and centring and displaying lovely rich fresh colour, including Waterlow with 2s6d imperf. colour trial, 2s6d deep sepia brown, 5s rose carmine, 10s indigo and £1 (used), De La Rue with a good range of shades including 2s6d deep yellow brown and blackish brown (from the lower right corner, 5s bright carmine and carmine, Bradbury Wilkinson 2s6d (5 shades), 5s carmine rose and rose red and re-engraved set to 10s also a used selection, a fine group with viewing essential and in the absence of certificates shades are not guaranteed correct. 1967-2000, Specialised collection of decimal Machins beautifully written up and presented in 7 albums. Arranged by value within each of the various printings (FCP/DEX, Harrison/De La Rue, OCP/PVA etc), then by the head, paper, phosphor and cylinder types, with shades and varieties identified also. Running throughout are imperforate pairs and we note 3 1/2p 2B, 6 1/2p bright blue (2 types), 9p deep violet 2B, 10p orange brown 2b (2 types), 11 1/2p drab CB, 14p deep blue CB, 15p bright blue CB, 19p orange red, 20p bright green CB, 22p bright orange red and 22p blue, 38p rosine 2B and the 50p ochre (2 band) in vertical imperf strip of 3. Striking perf shifts also, in particular on the 2 1/2p and 3p in corner marginal blocks of 10 (the latter also seen with a large dry print), on the £1 Carrickfergus (part of a large range of these high values in gutter pairs, blocks etc) and even on the £10 issue (which is very seldom seen). With rarities and scarcer types throughout, also to be found in an album of the pre-decimal issues (equally comprehensively covered), this magnificent collection is without doubt the finest of its type we have offered.
