Channel Islands 1853: France 40 c. orange used on cover from Jersey to Chateau D'Oleron, France endorsed "France via London" at top, with "JERSEY" double arc despatch cds (Jan 11) in blue-black and the adhesive left un-cancelled; Calais transit cds at right (Jan 12) and the adhesive cancelled by dotted "CP3°" ambulant in black. Reverse of cover with rare undated "ST. JOHNS" undated circle in blue, further Jersey cds London transit and arrival cds (Jan 14).
