1898, OHMS parcel piece/FROM THE/GEOLOGICAL SURVEY DEPARTMENT, OTTAWA, CANADA, franked at 81c by 1868-90/Large Queen/15 c/slate-purple horizontal pair, 1870-90/1 c/bright yellow and 1893/Widows Weeds/50 c/blue, tied by several strikes of the fancy Crown in Circle cancel and three strikes of the OTTAWA ONT roller cancel, to Vienna, Austria, the piece reconstructed for presentation purposes/label and stamped piece joined, but very obviously forming a coherent whole with typical minor blemishes associated with the rigours of parcel post, an outstanding showpiece item of great rarity and interest, /N,B, the address panel is endorsed with the signature of G,M, Dawson, one of Canadas pre-eminent scientists, and director of the Geological Survey of Canada from 1895 until his death in 1901, the label is addressed to J, Dörfler, the famous Austrian botanist and plant collector and dealer, XF-SUP!
