Four-page 1852 document (8 x 12.5 inches) stating Queen Victoria appoints SIR JOHN GASPARD LE MARCHANT as Lieut. Governor of Nova Scotia. Has been signed "VICTORIA RI" at top. Has embossed official seal, £200 embossed revenue stamp, and London docketing seal dated 26.6.52. Le Marchant joined the British Army in 1820 at age 17, eventually reaching the rank of Colonel.
