65, 3¢ Deep Lilac Rose on Union Blockade Cover, Fine-Avg with circular grid ccl and with red Boston dc ccl, Sept. 1864 usage to "Dr. J.F.A. Adams,/Acting Assist. Surgeon,/U.S. Bark "J.L. Davis"/East Gulf Squadron/Key West (Fla.)". Cover opened cleanly at left. The U.S. bark "James L. Davis" was a schooner in the blockade around Florida during the Civil War and in early August 1864 had destroyed the Craig Sugar Mill at Ellenton, Fl. (Image)

212, 1¢ Ultramarine on event cover, Just Fine, printed address to "Lietenant-Colonel B.F. Winger/Greencastle, Franklin County,/Penna." from "Brevet Lieut.-Colonel John P. Nicholson/No. 139 South Seventh Street/Philadelphia, Penna." The corner card is 2-line text "MILITARY ORDER OF THE LOYAL LEGION OF THE UNITED STATES/COMMANDERY OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA". Pencil notation on left edge of cover "SHERIDANS DEATH." General Sheridan was National Commander of the organization from 1886-1888, dying in office. Stain along top fold and spots along the left side, condition is very good; no correspondence included. Great topical corner card (Image)
