June 26, 1928 was the date of the opening of the 1928 Democratic National Convention that selected Al Smith as the nominee for President. Since Smith stayed in New York, we believe the caption refers to the appearance of Woodrow Wilson at the convention. Great political collateral material. 1937 Trans-Oceanic First, Cover from New Zealand - USA via the "Samoan Clipper", franked w/N.Z. #208 on legal-sized, registered, blue postal envelope w/5 red, lightly printed boxed stamp designs: 4 w/"ONE SHILLING" values & one w/"SIX PENCE" value. Front w/red boxed flight cachet "NEW ZEALAND - U.S.A./FIRST AIR MAIL/DECEMBER, 1937." Also w/4 Auckland Dec. 28, 1937 registered cds ccls over all 6 stamps. This was the last flight of the Samoan Clipper. After it dropped off the mail at Pago Pago, Samoa, it exploded above the Pago Pago harbor w/loss of entire crew.
