1969 50c Specimen Nuphil Yarralumla PNC, low numbered Registration label '0039', with an accompanying 1981 letter from Varian Wilson (NZ) which in part reads "..the Director (of the mint) went off to get the 1350 coins promised, but returned to say all the coins had been packed in steel-bound cases ready for despatch to banks..", "..he then arranged to stop the foot operated press which was making the 50c coins for the 1969 sets, and made a run of 2000 coins on unpolished blanks. The press remained set for double struck proofs, and Mr Henderson pointed out the difference between the special striking and the coins struck singly for circulation.
