1895 HALFAX-NS to VANCOUVER + JAPAN + CHINA, #41 pays the Canada 3¢ letter rate on cover dated APR6,1895 from Halifax ship chandlers "Black Brothers" and addressed to Vancouver CPR agent Robert Bauld, received on MAY 9th after an unusually long 33 day delivery and Bauld had already left for Asia, the letter was redirected to the Yokohama-Japan CPR office with a 10 centimes (2¢) postage due to upgrade to the 5¢ UPU rate with no penalty, routed via CPR SS EMPRESS of CHINA with a Yokohama arrival on MAY 26th and the postage due converted to 14 Sen Japanese currency, paid by the CPR Office with Japan postage stamp pairs #73-74, but Bauld had also left Japan and the letter had to again be forwarded to Hong-Kong where he was finally located on JUL 11th, a showpiece with over 3 months transit, the cover has a small trim LHS and a sealed tear on back, rare and F-VF est ($1500+ US) (Image)
