BASUTOLAND: 1942 (June 12) cover to a Lesotho woman in Basutoland (!) with Australia 1d & 9d tied by 'AUS FPO 34' cds in use at Tripoli (Lebanon) & FPO No 34 registration cachet in violet, 'LERIBE' transit & 'PITSENG' arrival b/s. An extraordinary origin/destination cover. The sender was presumably a Basuto native, probably serving with South African Forces. [Ted Proud records FPO 34 at Tripoli in Palestine 14.1.1942-26.6.1942 only]
