BASUTOLAND: 1942 (June 12) cover to a Lesotho woman in Basutoland (!) with Australia 1d & 9d tied by 'AUS FPO 34' cds in use at Tripoli (Lebanon) & FPO No 34 registration cachet in violet, 'LERIBE' transit & 'PITSENG' arrival b/s. An extraordinary origin/destination cover. The sender was presumably a Basuto native, probably serving with South African Forces. GAMBIA: 1938-46 KGVI set (*) plus 1953 QEII Pictorials set (**); also Transvaal ½d Postal Card with Zuid Afrikaansche Spoorweg (Railways) printed message on back unused; condition generally very fine.
