1698 folded letter to London, dispatched on December 10, addressed "for Richard Bale Esq., to be left with John Burrowes Merch.", endorsed "p Capt. Milk Q.D.C." , rated "3" in manuscript, including 2d inland fee and 1d Master's gratuity, with London Bishop mark on reverse struck on February 20, large portion of red wax seal, vertical crease not detracting, an appealing and scarce outgoing mail. "Barba/Does" two-line handstamp, slightly over inked, struck on reverse of July 17, 1762 folded cover to London, endorsed "His Majesty's Ship Bellequia", with single rate notation "1/7", including 1/6 for the packet and 1d for the captain's gratuity, showing London Bishop mark on September 17 at top, denoting arrival two months later, usual light cover soiling of no significance, a scarce early outgoing mail; ex-Hackmey. "Barba/Does" two-line handstamp, applied on back of 1784, June 29 folded letter from London to Barbados, reaching the Island around the end of August after having sailed from July 7, with Bishop datestamp on back, being re-addressed and sent back to London to "The care of William Dailing Esq. Merch.t", where it arrioved on March 16, Bishop mark at top, rated on both ways at 2 shillings, prepaid on departure and with charges on delivery, fine, a very scarce mail involved in a double crossing of the Atlantic. "Paid/At/Barbadoes" crowned circle, a magnificent strike in red on November 27, 1849 folded letter to New York, charged "1/-" for the packet rate, paying "5" centimes on delivery, double-arc datestamp. in black on reverse, carried via St. Thomas where it was embarked on the "Great Western" following route via Bermuda, very fine, the earliest date so far recorded for this handstamp, additionally very few letters from the West Indies to New York carried by RMPS steamers have survived (S.G. "Paid/At/Barbadoes" crowned circle, boldly handstamped on April 27, 1850 envelope to Philadelphia, rated at 1 shilling, charged with 10 centimes for over 300 miles as denoted by corresponding Boston datestamp, forwarded via St. Thomas and following embarkation on the "Clyde", then in Bermuda transferred to the Cunard "Ospray", changing to the Cunard "Hibernia" at Halifax heading for Boston: ex-Morris H.
