Bahamas, 1863, 4d rose, perf 12½. Tied by Nassau "A05" barred oval handstamp on 1858 cover to Jacksonville, Florida, "N. York, Steamship" circular handstamp, with Nassau, New Providence origin backstamp, straight line "Advertised", with "Aug 1" date and "5" rate handstamps, Jacksonville, Sept 1 backstamp with "Not Called For" notation, Very Fine and choice, an interesting dead letter usage. Tied on combination with Canada 1916, 2¢ + 1¢ war tax by "Toronto, Ont., May 6, 1917" slogan machine cancel on cover to Nassau, Bahamas, Nassau receiving backstamp, very light perf toning, otherwise Very Fine, a very scarce combination. SG No. S1. Scott No. E1  Estimate $250 - 350. The Bahamas issued only 600 1916 Special Delivery first printings which were sold in Canada. Under an agreement with the Canadian Post Office, they where used in combination with Canadian stamps and postmarked in Canada. $0 (Image)
