YOKOHAMA - RARE EARLY 18c-RATE COVER TO ADEN WITH HONG KONG 6c(3) TIED BY "B62" NUMERALS; 3 Nov. 1868 env. (overall toning/speckling with some surface abrasions - mainly affecting reverse) to "Aden" endorsed "P. English Mail" with a very fine "YOKOHAMA/A" British P.O. cds on the reverse. Franked by three Hong Kong 6c (all affected by surface abrasions but not unattractive) tied by partly fine black Hong Kong "B62" Numerals (faint 14 Nov transit cds on flap), also with red manuscript "4" on the front and small red "ADEN" arrival cds (11 Dec.) on reverse. Aden is a very rare destination for pre-UPU Hong Kong & Treaty Ports mail, and exceptional for a Yokohama cover such as this; we have not been able to trace another example in our database.
