1922 (11 July) cover from Corcaigh to Cork, franked with left diagonal half of 4p gray green, with 5-line Dollard overprint, tied by framed "Lean Irish Taiilteann Games August" slogan supported by adjoining departure cds at left, sender's notation in magenta ink: "no 1/2d, 1d, 1 1/2d or 2d stamps available Cork GPO July 11 22", charged "4d" on arrival. The Post Office with no policy in place for bisects noted "Mutilated Stamp" and raised the mandated double the deficiency with the British 4p Postage Due at bottom, filing fold away from the stamps, with 1997 MacDonnell Whyte certificate. A rarity from Ireland, one of only four known bisects, ex-T.E.Field and Pedneault collections (Image)
