1916 KGV Sideface 4d orange on Remaindered NSW Buff Stock with Obliterating Device on the Flap in Red on Laid Paper as ACSC RE8 with Kangaroo 1d affixed apparently by the Post Office and the Price Amended by Hand with 'Fourpence Half-penny' crossed through & "6d" added, unused. A rare provisional that was absent from Mark Diserio's Collection.

1919 KGV Sideface Provisional Issue 4d orange Essay with Re-Set Text, Underlined 'REGISTERED LETTER' and Admonition at the Base ending '.../SUBJECT TO THE REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONS' with 'AND CONDITIONS' crossed-through & "etc" added by Hand ACSC RE9(E)2, a couple of minor bends & small closed spikehole at lower-left, Cat $10,000. Absent from Mark Diserio's Collection. The ACSC states that only two examples are recorded, the other with manuscript "Specimen" across the face. Sold at our auction of 25.3.2021 for $4485.

1920 KGV Sideface New Value 5d brown Essay with pre-1919 Heading & the Distance from the First 'R' of 'REGISTERED' to the Right of the Stamp 113mm ACSC RE10(E)1 endorsed "Specimen/G 1856" on the face, three closed spike-holes at upper-left, under-catalogued at $2000. On the issued envelopes, the heading was moved 4mm to the right so that the red vertical line fell between 'REGISTERED' & 'LETTER'. The ACSC states that examples were sent to the State Postmasters-General but this is believed to be the only surviving example: illustrated in the ACSC at page 316. Absent from Mark Diserio's collection. Sold at our auction of 25.3.2021 for $4010. (Image1)

Another rare provisional: sold at our auction of 25.3.2021 for $540. The price was raised to 6d from 1.10.1921 and postmasters were advised to manually amend their stock.

1923 KGV 'FOURPENCE/HALFPENNY' on 5d brown with Curved Flap & Address Lines at Lower-Left as RE16, the flap misfolded resulting in the Stamp being Printed at an Angle, unused, Cat $300 for normal. This is a technically interesting item. It proves that the surcharge, which is on the same angle as the stamp, was applied to unfolded unissued stock.
