Argentina: Tierra del Fuego: 1891 ‘Popper’s Post’ 10c. red, mint blocks of sixteen, eight, six and four, thirteen singles, also three proofs, varied condition. Produced for the gold mining project run by Romanian entrepreneur Julius Popper, by Juan H. Kidd & Co. of Buenos Aires, in order to be used for the 'official' postal service to the mainland by Popper's own schooners. The stamps were uniquely priced at 10 centigrammes of gold dust. Photo.
