(Designer) Alvin Eisenmann (1921-2013), American graphic designer, 1951 founder & head of America's 1st graphic design graduate program at Yale School of Arts. Here his autograph on a full sheet/50 8ยข Copernicus stamps (#1488), which he designed; housed in a black USPS presentation portfolio w/gold lettering which was presented to Dr. David Challinor who was an Assistant Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution (and was probably a speaker at the First Day Ceremony for this stamp) (Image)
