1940 MELBOURNE-VIC to FREEMANTLE-WA, cover dated OCT21,1940 and addressed to a passenger on the CPR RMS EMPRESS of JAPAN, missed the ship at Freemantle and forwarded to LONDON via British Naval Ship + onward to VICTORIA-BC on JAN41941 where the passenger was NOT ON BOARD, the ship was checked again on JAN 6th and on JAN 9th and still no passenger, the letter was then returned to sender, cover cut diagonally to open, a fabulous pre-WWII cover circumventing the globe with great markings, F-VF est ($50+ US) (Image)
