1940 Censored Airmail cover franked Queen 1d, KGVI 2d (3), Ram 5d & Kookaburra 6d tied by Newcastle 27 MAY 1940 pmks. To England & would have gone by air on last flight via Mediterranean before route closed as Italy declared war on UK. Another that would have gone by same route but terminated in Greece with mail sent to Egypt for onward transportation by sea. Similarly from GB to Sydney on 10th June re-routed by North Atlantic via Portugal to New York & surface mail to Sydney. Vendor purchased them at a Melbourne auction for $890. (3) (Image1)
