1896 “Lake Lefroy Goldfield Cycle Mail” 6d pink on slightly greenish paper, depicting the Western Australia swan with surrounding inscription, characteristic misaligned perforations, couple of creases and a small tear at right, however most known copies are defective, a very presentable example of this rare local Despite expanding Post Office services Lake Lefroy, near the Kalgoorlie goldfields, remained unserviced until this local post was established in late 1896. It operated until June 1897 when the Postmaster in Perth claimed this service contravened Postal regulations and threatened prosecution. Ex John Love (Image)
