Rare and sought-after Gold Medal with ribbon and box, manufactured by the Moscow Mint, and awarded to Linda Margaret Watson who was a member of the Zimbabwean Hockey Team. This gold medal was the first for the country of Zimbabwe. The medal shows on the obverse, the traditional goddess of victory, holding a palm in her left hand and a winner’s crown in her right. A design used since the 1928 Games in Amsterdam, created by Florentine artist Giuseppe Cassioli (ITA - 1865-1942) and chosen after a competition organised by the International Olympic Committee in 1921. For these Games, the figure of victory is accompanied by the specific inscription: “ (Image)

1980 Moscow, collection of 102 tickets, with 70 unused and 31 used, good deal of duplication with the unused tickets being mostly for the Track & Field on the 25th & 26th, one signed Steve Ovett (Silver and Gold Medlist), a few franked with Olympic stamps incl. Closing Ceremony, fine to very fine, plus five tickets for Olympic excursions, one for a practice of the Opening Ceremony and a luggage tag.

1980 Moscow ticket for weightlifting, 30th July, unused, actually signed by US President Jimmy Carter, who famously announced to boycott of the 1980 Games, franked with an Olympic stamp, including original response letter from the White House thanking the Mr. Christianson for their message to President Carter, which goes on to explain his reasoning for the boycott plus a copy of the statement from the Secretary of State, a very fine and great talking piece for a collection.
