Complete set of eleven including both 15¢ types, blocks of 4, 1¢ 3¢ & 6¢ left margin blocks on card, 2¢ right margin block with part imprint, ample to most with large margins, rich colors throughout, 24¢ with natural thin spot, an Extremely Fine set, a wonderful complete 1869 Pictorial proof set in far better condition than normally encountered.

THE FINER OF TWO KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THIS 90¢ PICTORIAL SMALL NUMERALS ESSAY.

In J. Rose "United States Postage Stamps of 1869", he states that he had never seen an example of this essay and that no examples were in the Brazer, Juhring or Wunderlich collections. Another example of this essay was offered in the Finkelburg collection (R.A. Siegel, September 1999 sale) with a couple tone spots on front realizing $3,000 hammer.
