Full margins, right stamp with tiny corner flaw, tied by beautiful strike of "Welaka, Fla." dateless double circle postmark with manuscript "Feb. 22" date alongside, on cover to "Capt. Winston Stephens, Co. 3, 2nd Fla. Cav., Camp Finegan, Fla."; some cover flaws including small ink erosion below manuscript date & light water stain at top left, otherwise Very Fine, one of the few Confederate fancy postmarks.

Margins ample to into frameline at lower left, tied by superb strike of "Warrington, Fla., Jul 19" cds used as an army field cancellation in Alabama, on homemade cover to Shelby Springs, Ala., pencil "Camp Jackson, July 1862" docketing; cover reduced at right, a nice use of the Warrington Fla. evacuation postmark struck at Pollard Ala., Warrington's postmaster, S. M. Davidson, used this device at Pollard from June 15 thru Nov. 12, 1862, this is a very choice example.

Warrington, Florida fell into Union hands on May 10, 1862, but the retreating Confederate forces managed to evacuate the contents of the post office including the town's circular datestamp. From that date until at least November 1862 the device was used as an army field cancellation.
