Perfectly centered within large margins which are clear of design on all four sides, sharp early impression with fiery brick red color, light cancellation, Extremely Fine and choice, with 1989 P.F. & 2023 P.S.E. certificates, latter Graded (XF 90, SMQ $5,100), only six grade higher, all at "95". 1857, 10¢ green, type II. Tied on small piece by well-struck blue Marysville, Cal. Shadow Star fancy cancel, wide margins and strong color, Very Fine, a wonderful strike of this Fancy Cancel, fancy cancels on the 1857 10¢ issues are rare, with 1994 P.F. certificate. Scott No. 32; $205.

A GEM USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 10¢ TYPE III WITH A COLOR CANCELLATION.
Thirteen examples have equaled this grade while only three grade higher in the P.S.E. Population Report, however this is undoubtedly one of the most attractive examples, irrespective of the grade.

Cancelled by blue town and vivid red Liverpool transit cancels, perfect centering, framelines complete on all four sides, fine impression in a deep bold shade, Extremely Fine to Superb,ex-Zoellner, with 1986, 1998 P.F. & 2009 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF-Superb 95, SMQ $2,750). A PHENOMENAL EXAMPLE WHICH IS CERTAINLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SINGLE 1857 12¢ BLACK THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE TO OFFER.
Due to the narrow spacing between stamps on the 12¢ Plate I, very little room was left for perforations. Examples such as this are incredibly rare.

A SUPERB ORIGINAL GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 24¢ GRAY LILAC ISSUE.
The 1857 perforated issue are the most difficult to obtain in gem quality with the most difficult denomination being the 24¢ value. The margins are narrow, with the design almost always touched (if not in) at top or bottom. This is one of the finest original gum examples extant.
