Cat No:1871S

1871-S Liberty NGC XF40. As with all of the other S-Mint Half Eagles of the 1860s and 1870s, they are seldom offered for sale - in any grade. And when they are offered they are usually well worn as gold from San Francisco circulated extensively. 1871-S is virtually unknown in mint state, and nice circulated pieces appear under-priced at current levels. This lot creates an opportunity to acquire a truly scarce coin. PCGS shows only 108 submissions of this date (in all grades) and surely many of these were RE-submissions. (Image)

1879-S Liberty NGC MS61. Beautiful color and luster. A couple small gouges at the 9 of the date o/w it would undoubtedly have graded higher. (Image)
