image CORFU 1805 (INWARD) - EARLY USE OF THE CIRCULAR "POSTA/CORFV/SETTINSVLARE" MARK ON COVER EX VENICE - 3 Sept. 1805 EL (one flap cut and glued to display whole mark across the join on reverse; later label partly removed from the front) from Venice to Corfu "Con. Capt. Bussolich" charged "3 [paras]" local postage on delivery with a partly fine circular "POSTA/CORFV/SETTINSVLARE" mark on the reverse. Zaphiriou records (1987; p.A147) only 27 of this mark in the 1804-07 period (not including this one). Rare Corfu mark of this elusive 1804-07 period. Cross Reference: ITALIAN STATES (Image)
