image 13 Jun. 1929 use of 5c Stationery Envelope uprated with 5c Air Mail (Scott C11), flown on Transatlantic flight by French monoplane "Yellow Bird" destined for Paris with 'FIRST FRENCH TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT' cachet, forced to land at Comilias, Spain due to a fuel shortage, receiving a 'COMILIAS/14JUN/29' transit datestamp, Paris 'BOURGET-AVIATION/16-6/29' arrival datestamp, signed by the French crew of Armand Lotti, Jean Assollant & Rene Lefevre. Only 100 envelopes were carried. This was also the first flight to carry a documented stowaway, Arthur Schreiber, who was discovered by the crew midway across the Atlantic, and was given a wonderful reception by the French crowd on arrival in Paris.
