image BLACK OVERPRINT: 'S.C.' (Error of Lettering for 'S.G.') on De La Rue Crown/SA Wmk Perf 2d 10 dull orange, GPO cds of MR25/71. Superb. Rated RRR. [Date range 7.10.1869 to 5.11.1872] For many years, Don Pearce & other advanced collectors stated that this stamp, which is listed by Ron Butler under 'Supreme Court', had to be an Error of Type 'S.C.' for 'S.G.'. Tony Presgrave established that the actual 'S.C.' on DLR 2d was issued only in 1873, indicating that any examples dated earlier than that must be the error. The matter was definitively resolved with the discovery of the 'Tamiami' 'S.C.'+'S.G.' setenant pair dated OC7/69 that sold for $27,554.
