FERNANDO PO: 1846 lengthy English entire headed "West Allerdean Aug 28th 1846" to a British missionary at "[Port] Clarence/Fernando Po/West Africa", sealed with a small wafer inscribed 'Where there is/love/there is faith', no postal markings so presumably carried per favor of a ship's captain, some staining but very presentable. [In 1778, Fernando Po was ceded by the Portuguese to the Spanish. Between 1827 & 1843, the British conducted anti-slavery operations from Port Clarence. Today, the island is called Bioko and is part of Equatorial Guinea]
