Arctic & Antarctic 1897/1960c: Lot two picture postcards to Switzerland with motifs of the Andrêe expedition (1897) which was a planned balloon journey over the North Pole but which failed and where all three participants died, one postcard has the handwritten notion that this is the last photograph of the balloon which was never seen again. This was true until 1930 when the corpses of the three participants and the photographs shot after their emergency landing were found.
