Hugo Krötzsch, Altdeutsche Staaten, Handbuch der Postfreimarkenkunde: Dieses, um die Jahrhundertwende in Leipzig herausgegebene Werk ist bis heute in seiner Art einzig geblieben. Mit größter Genauigkeit werden die Briefmarken mit ihrer Entstehungsgeschichte, die Neudrucke, Fälschungen und Abstempelungen beschrieben. Hier finden sich alle nur denkbaren Details zum Thema, die seinerzeit aufgrund eines noch möglichen Quellenstudiums festgehalten werden konnten. Zu den Hauptmitarbeitern gehörte Paul Ohrt, der unter anderem für die Gebiete Oldenburg und Preußen verantwortlich zeichnete. Alle erschienenen Teile nebst dazugehörigen Nachträgen in einem Band mit ungefähr 1.340 Seiten Umfang, Leinen, Reprint der Ausgaben von 1894-1900
