Canton. 1846 (Sep 26) Printed letter from Russell & Co, with details of exports from China to USA and England, posted to Huth & Co in London, superb "HONG-KONG" double arc backstamp (Proud D3, 28 SE with month in serifed letters) and London c.d.s (Dec 2), charged 1/-, address panel with a red boxed Chinese handstamp in the lower right corner, light vertical file fold, otherwise fine.

Shanghai. 1867 (Nov 22) Cover to Bombay pr "Emeu" with enclosed letter from Russell & Co in Shanghai concerning the sale of six chests of opium, the cover with oval "FORWARDED BY / RUSSELL & Co / HONGKONG", franked 1863-71 8c (tiny corner fault) tied "B62", red manuscript "4", backstamped at Hong Kong and Bombay (Dec 22). A fine Shanghai cover with a Hong Kong forwarding agent's cachet. Also an 1867 entire letter posted from Shanghai to France with superb red oval "FORWARDED BY / SHANGHAE / BIRLEY WORTHINGTON & Co", the stamps unfortunately removed. (2). Photo on Page 182. (Image1)
