1911 KEVII 1d Red, prepared for use but not issued, handstamped violet "SPECIMEN", type SH2 applied locally in St. Helena, superb mint. This stamp was printed in red in error, the error only discovered when the stamps reached St. Helena (although type D12a Specimen overprints had already been distributed by the U.P.U by then); the stamps were all officially burnt with the exception of a very few copies overprinted with this violet Specimen handstamp for inclusion in presentation sets. S.G. 71s (var). Photo on Page 170. (Image1)
