1903 cover from Ceylon with QV 6c tied 'COLOMBO' cds taxed with small 'T' endorsed "15c" in blue pencil, on arrival Sydney '3d' cachet applied and Postage Dues Completed Design 1d x3 affixed with pencil cancels, some aging marks, plus three covers from Victoria (one with 'Drummond's Victoria Hotel, Hamilton' imprint) to Tatts franked with 1d pinks and taxed the first two with Postage Dues Blank At Base 4d affixed both pencil-cancelled and the other with 2d tied 'HOBART' cds, some belmishes including the usual closed spike holes.

1914 (Jan 21) cover to Hobart with rare franking of Kangaroos First Wmk 1d (fault) 2d pair & 3d olive-green Die II ACSC 12D (Cat $1250 on cover) tied by 'THE EXCHANGE/NSW' cds, red & black/white R label. Very desirable First Wmk three-colour franking. Ex Martin Frischauff. [The rate was 1d Empire letter x3 + 3d registration]
1914 (Dec 14) registered cover to Canada with scarce franking of Engraved 6d Kookaburra (exceptional centring, short perfs at top) tied by light 'MONEY ORDER/BENALLA' cds, red/white R label, Canadian 'HOBBY CLUB' label on the flap, 'C&V RPO/BC' transit b/s & Winnipeg arrivals (one of which ties the label), readdressed locally, minor blemishes.
1915 usage of Dutch KPM PPC of Sulawesi to California with KGV 1d red only tied by part-'THURSDAY ISLAND' cds, complete 93x6mm 'PASSED BY CENSOR' h/s in violet. [Between 1912 & 1918 postcards to America were accepted at the concessional rate of 1d, instead of 1½d]
1915 stampless OAS cover to Oxfordshire but with two obliterating bars across the address & endorsed "Return/to/writer/Official/open/&/contravenes/FS Regs/Para 11 Sec 100 (6)", the 5pp letter within headed "HQ Sigs/7 Bn 2 Bde 1st AIF/Abroad/15 4 1915" was apparently considered too descriptive of troop movements etc. [The writer was Pte James Bowhill]

1915 (Apr) stampless cover endorsed on the flap "...Langwarrin/Prisoners of War Depot" & with a faint but legible strike of the rare 'PRISONERS OF WAR DEPOT/LANGWARRIN' h/s in green at left, to the Red Cross in Geneva with Melbourne cds & the scarce 'CENSORS OFFICE/GPO/MELBOURNE' h/s surmounted by 'PASSED' h/s & with unrecognised '3' h/s all in violet.
1915 The Daily Telegraph (Tasmania) complete newspaper of 'June 14, 1915' posted to Williamstown (Vic) with address hand-written at U/L of title page and KGV ½d green affixed alongside tied by complete but poorly struck 'POSTAGE PAID/LAUNCESTON TAS' cds in black (Hardinge Type 1c(iv) rated RRRRR), the stamp with minor creasing, the newspaper with minor edge faults & aging marks, plus another edition of 'March 4, 1915' posted to same addressee with Kangaroo ½d green tied by poor Launceston duplex cancel, this one with more extensive aging marks. Scarce survivors showing that newspaper wrappers were not always available or used.

1915 illustrated cover for the YMCA at Brisbane to Tasmania with very fine strike of the scarce triple-oval 'NO 1 AUSTRALIAN HOSPITAL SHIP/1NOV1915/KAROOLA' datestamp in blue-green & a spectacular second strike on the reverse, minor blemishes. Ex Michael Blake.
1915-18 WWI Military Camps in Australia covers with KGV 1d reds tied by 'ENOGGERA CAMP' x2 (one an illustrated YMCA front), 'MILITARY CAMP MITCHAM', 'MILITARY CAMP 1/TASMANIA' in blue & 'MILITARY CAMP/GEELONG' with 'THE SALVATION ARMY/CAMP AND INSTITUTE' imprint at U/L, rather mixed condition.

1917 cover with 'Church of England/.../Soldiers' Institute/Expeditionary Force Encampment' imprint at U/L & KGV 1d red tied by 'MILITARY CAMP MARIBYRNONG/24MY17/VIC' cds.
1918 'SCENIC SYDNEY' photo wallet (the internal photos removed) with KGV 1d red tied by very fine 'LIVERPOOL MILITARY CAMP/3AP18/=NSW=' cds, minor peripheral wear. Very attractive.
1920 long envelope with 'OHMS' header, printed endorsement 'Packet Post' and violet oval 'Clerk of Petty Sessions/Gatton' cachet added at L/L, sent to student at Queensland Agricultural College, Gatton with KGV 1½d brown tied 'GATTON/14AU20/...' cds, returned undeliverable endorsed "Left College/address unknown" supposedly re-posted into the Southern & Western Railway TPO box at the nearby station with very fine strike of 'T.P.O.7.S&W.R/UP 17AU20/...' cds applied on face although it appears never to have travelled by train, then held at Gatton for almost two months until sent to Brisbane with 'UNCLAIMED/GATTON' h/s and 'DEAD LETTER OFFICE/120C20/BRISBANE' arrival on face even though the sender's endorsement - in Gatton - is right there alongside, tiny bit of back flap missing otherwise very fine. Bizarre!; see lenghty write-up included; the original contents - a 'Notice of Objection Lodged by Electoral Registrar' in that "...you do not live in Queensland" - enclosed.

1923 (May 30) usage of KGV Sideface 1d violet Wrapper ACSC W11 to Germany uprated with KGV ½d green + Kangaroos 6d blue Die IIB (Cat $175 on cover) tied by 'CHILDERS/QUEENSLAND' cds. Ex Martin Frischauff. [The rate was 1d per 2oz x7, the additional ½d presumably being payment of the war tax withdrawn 30.9.1920]
1925 battered & soiled cover to a Tattersalls accommodation address in Hobart with KGV 1½d red tied by Newcastle machine cancel, light but fine strike of the scarce rubber 'TRANSMISSION AND/DELIVERY PROHIBITED' h/s in purple, DLO b/s of Hobart & Sydney, opened-out & the flap missing. [Such items from the early 20th century are well-known but examples from the 1920s are rarely seen]
1925 (Apr 25) usage of KGV Sideface 1d green Die I Wrapper ACSC W12 to Germany - addressed in Esperanto - uprated with KGV Single Wmk 2d brown (Cat $175 on cover) tied by Perth cds. Ex Martin Frischauff. [The rate was 1d per 2oz x3]
1927 (March 1) use of KGV 1½d red Letter Card registered to the "Commonwealth Attorney General, Federal Parliament House, Melbourne" with KGV 3d blue added tied 'WINDELLAMA/NSW' cds and red R label alongside, Goulburn (NSW) transit and Melbourne arrival b/s, 'ATTORNEY GENERAL' receiving cachet '7-MAR1927' inside, a couple of minor aging marks and closed file spike through R label. Most unusual contents from FS Wells who was jailed for failure to vote signalling his intention to institute proceedings against the Electoral Returning Officer for Eden-Monaro at Cooma (NSW) who had him arrested, against Justice Bevan (who presumably convicted him) and against the Governor of HM Gaol Goulburn where he was incarcerated. The Federal Parliament House Canberra was not opened until May 9, 1927; until then, Federal Parliament occupied the Victorian Parliament House.
1927 (Nov 1) commercial cover to "Race Club/Djokja/Java" with KGV 1½d red only & twice redirected on each occasion with Postage Due 20c affixed & tied in turn by cds of 'DJOKJAKARTA', 'BANDOENG' & finally 'GAROET', the first two Postage Dues crossed-out to show the fee was not collected at those offices, various backstamps include postmen's delivery handstamps '1B' and 'B5', minor soiling. 1932 (June 1) Geo Saleam & Sons, Universal Providers, Maryborough & Howard (Qld) illustrated advertising cover for 'Pure Medical Spanish Olive Oil' showing olive tree, sent to Brisbane with KGV 2d red Die III tied 'MARYBOROUGH' machine cancel, couple of relatively minor blemishes.
1933 (June 15) commercial airmail cover endorsed "Per Australia & Karachi-London Air Mail", to Wurttemburg with Large Kookaburra 6d pair tied by Sydney cds, light vertical fold. The rate was 3d foreign letter rate + 3d internal airmail + 6d Karachi-London airmail supplment.
1933-39 commercial mostly airmail covers within Australia & to various overseas destinations, all franked with 6d Large Kookaburra at a selection of rates including domestic airmail + surface to destination, domestic "Express Delivery", insured parcel piece with 6d imprint pair, foreign letter rate 3d + 2d x2 + 3d registration, accelerated Karachi-London airmail, all-up airmail to Switzerland x2, etc, fine to very fine. 1935 (May 13) cover to Preston (Vic) with KGV 2d Silver Jubilee tied Melbourne cds and explanatory cachets 'DAMAGED BY FIRE/IN LETTER RECEIVER' and 'RECEIVED AT G.P.O. MELBOURNE/DAMAGED BY WATER' alongside on face, suitably stained but still very presentable. There are no apparent signs of fire damage, so it appears to be a case of the cure being worse than the disease.
1936 (Aug 29) commercial airmail to Ceylon endorsed for airmail "Aust-Calcutta" with Large Kookaburra 6d x2 + SA Centenary 2d tied by Brisbane cds, superb Calcutta transit b/s of 4SEP36, minor defects. The rate was 1/2d for air to India, then surface to Colombo.
1936 (Dec 23) 'Back to Tallangatta/March 10th-17th 1937' illustrated envelope showing impressive Shire Hall sent to Melbourne with KGV 2d red tied 'TALLANGATTA/VIC' cds, minor blemishes & light central fold not affecting stamp or illustation. [In 1956, the old town was relocated 6km to the W and the original site was flooded when the Hume Reservoir was enlarged]
1937 (July 9) inter-bank airmail cover to Japan with Kangaroos 9d violet + Queen 1d green Die I tied by Sydney cds. A scarce destination. [The rate was 9d air to Singapore + 1d for surface to destination]
1938 commercial cover to Switzerland with 6d Kookaburra + 1/6d Hermes Air tied by 'MT OSSA/25OC38/QLD' cds and blue/white R label, Mackay & Townsville transits plus Swiss 'SILENEN' transit & 'AMSTEG/7.IX.38' arrival. The all-up airmail rate was 1/9d + 3d registration.
1938-39 Empire Air Mail Scheme commercial covers to London x2, Gloucestershire or RAF Cosford in Staffordshire, 5d frankings comprising KGV 5d x2, KGVI 1d & 2d pair or 5d Ram. [The 5d rate applied from 1.8.1938 until 31.8.1939 only]

1939 'Bulk Postage Docket' for Printed Matter @ 1d x377 = £1/17/5d shortpaid 5d with Kangaroo 2/- plus the full set of Robes 5/- to £1 all defaced with a large punch, two different Adelaide cds. A rare survivor: these articles were retained for accounting purposes and were then supposed to be destroyed.
1940 (Aug 8) registered cover by airmail via the 'Horseshoe' Route to "President of the Czechoslovak Government/Dr Edvard Benes/London", KGVI 3d + Hermes 1/6d tied by 'CAMBERWELL E6/VIC-AUST' cds with blue/white R label alongside. [Edvard Benes was the pre-WWII President of Czechoslovakia & was recognised by the Allies as retaining that position. However, the Prime Minister-in-Exile was Jan Sramek]
1940 (Dec 19) Clipper cover to Massachusetts with Lyrebird 1/- block of 4 tied by 'HORNSBY/NSW' cds, 'BOSTON, MASS/BACK BAY ANNEX' arrival b/s, redirected to a ship soon to depart from San Francisco with Air Mail 6c Eagle tied by a different '.../BACK BAY ANNEX' cds.
1941 (Apr 15) cover with superb strike of the huge 'GENERALNI KONSULAT CESKOSLOVENSKE REPUBLIK/[lion]/SYDNEY' cachet in violet across the flap, by airmail via the 'Horseshoe' Route to "President of the/Czechoslovak Republic/.../London", opened-out for display otherwise superb!
