POSTAL HISTORY: 1938 (July 22) OHMS cover with 'TREASURY/...' h/s at L/L to New York with Pictorials 1d Headdress & 6d Mother & Child strip of 3 tied by Port Moresby cds, the airmail label obliterated at London with jusqu'a bars in red, light vertical fold well clear of the stamps. [The rate was 1/6d per ½oz to GB + 1d for surface to the USA]
POSTAL HISTORY: 1938 (Dec 30) KPM Dutch shipping line cover with KGVI Coronation 5d 'solo' franking (surprisingly scarce on cover) tied 'PORT MORESBY/PAPUA' cds to England paying the Empire Air Mail Scheme reduced 'all-up' rate, by airmail to Australia with Townsville '31DEC' b/s (next day!) to join the QANTAS/Imperial Airways Flying Boat service to the UK.
