Very scarce on-cover use of 4d Violet in combination with 1d Violet on 1922 (May 4) Belmore (NSW) registered cover to Sydney, BELMORE & SYDNEY backstamps. 4d Violet alone Cat. $450 on commercial cover.
The KGV 4d Ultramarine was issued in March 1922 to avoid the confusion caused by having 1d & 4d values in the same colour. Stocks of the 4d Violet apparently lasted for some time after the 4d Ultramarine was introduced.
