1921-30 Covers and cards flown from G.B to Europe including 1921-23 covers franked 4½d to Paris (3), 1924 London-Copenhagen first flight, British Empire Exhibition flight to Berlin, 1928 cover posted at Balmoral Castle flown to Berlin, London to Stockholm first night flight, 1929 (Mar 20) postcards to Paris franked 3½d or 9½d (for express delivery) both delivered at the same time, 1930 Express late fee cover franked 1/2½d flown from London to Mannheim, etc. Also a 1923 letter (with cover) from Handley Page Transport Ltd in Paris, and associated postcards. 1925-77 Covers comprising internal flights (25, mainly first flights), external first flights (11) and other commercial covers (23), including 1933 (Aug 20) Western Air Express Plymouth to London flight bearing a 3d Air stamp but the postage unpaid so charged 3d postage due; first flights to Leopoldville, Antananarivo and Mossamedes; 1941 covers to Singapore returned to sender with air fee refunded (2, one with G.P.O slip); and other commercial pre-war covers with rates up to 10/6. An interesting lot, nearly all pre 1942. (60).

1929 (Oct 18/25) Special flights from London to the British fleet at Corfu, covers carried on the first flight to H.M.S "Courageous", or the second flight to H.M.S "Royal Sovereign" with the ship's cachet on reverse. Also a 1929 (Nov 28) receipt from Francis J. Field showing these two covers were sold for 22/6 just a month after they were posted. Scarce, very few flown. (2+).

image Ireland. 1932 (July 2) Cover from London to Maryborough, Queens Co, with London 1½d Paid machine, three enclosed letters from the Bank of England concerning the conversion of war loans, the cover handstamped "SPECIAL / AIR". Flights were made from London to Ireland on July 1st - 4th to deliver War Loan Conversion Notices, the covers receiving this "SPECIAL / AIR" cachet. Only commercial covers without stamps were carried and very few covers were therefore kept. Light vertical fold and minor creasing, otherwise fine and scarce. Photo on Page 8. (Image1)
