POSTAL HISTORY: 1898 DR Cameron, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia 'Dealer in Pianos, Organs and Sewing Machines' advertising cover with large illustration of an upright piano on the face, to Halifax with 3c red tied 'NEW-GLASGOW/N.S' duplex cancel.
POSTAL HISTORY: 1939 to Germany endorsed "via New York" with KGVI 5c tied 'PRESCOTT/AUG26/1939/ONT.' machine cancel (six days before outbreak of WWII), black 'EXAMINED BY CENSOR ("29")' cachet and blue 'MAIL SERVICE SUSPENDED' cachets applied on face, presumably returned to sender, couple of very minor blemishes. [This strongly suggests censorship was being conducted prior to the official outbreak of WWII, as mail would not ordinarily take almost a week to leave Canada on its way to the New York steamer for Germany; apparently the item was held back because of its contents until service was indeed suspended]
NEWFOUNDLAND: 1937 Coronation Pictorials 1c to 48c SG 257-267 tied to two philatelic covers by rubber 'REGISTERED/ST JOHNS NF' cds, Cat £50. [Most 'used' Newfoundland stamps have fake cancels. These are guaranteed genuine]

NEWFOUNDLAND - REVENUES: 1938 Beer Tax 10/12c blue Barefoot #1 (Van Dam #NFB1), no gum as issued. [Barefoot states "The few known examples all have creases". Not this example, which is very fine. The catalogue value of Cat £750 (C$1600) is for an example with faults]
