Circular from LA clerk, Alfred Patrick, to The County Clerk, GUELPH SP 23 1856 double split circle hs, advising the forwarding “by Railway.. a case containing 17 copies of LA Journals etc”. LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CANADA: LA5: 1859 Reduced long LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CANADA envelope with CROWNED SHIELD LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CANADA APRIL 16 1859 (LA 4-at Toronto) with oval REGISTERED AT THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF CANADA both in same red ink on front. Endorsed “.. gistered” ms and REGISTERED hs on front, with number 563. No reference to FREE or PAID. Unusual rating: 1. May be 2/5 cy [impossible multiple of 3d per half oz due, with or without the 1d Registration pre-paid]. 2. May be 2 ½ oz [5x3d due, 1d Registration pre-paid]. To William Hewatt Esq, Treasurer County Wellington. Partial GUELPH 18 AP 18 59 small split circle receiver on back. Illustrated on pg 86 in Harrison [1987 – Canada’s Registry System, Hennok No 5]. This is from Toronto [month before day] not Quebec, as Harrison states. Previous catalogue description says “FREE” as other cover on p 86, Harrison does not mention rate for the above item.
