1830 Folded Trans-Atlantic letter from York 14 JA (light red double circle despatch), originally partially PRE-PAID and addressed to ‘Thomas Deane Esq.’ in New York, endorsed ‘single sheet’ top left and rated manuscript ‘paid 9’(7d Cdn postage to border plus 2d ferriage fee) and ‘1/3’ (postage from border to New York), also ‘25’(¢) US, with scarce red ’NIAGARA U. CANADA PAID TO NEW YORK’ BUCKLE TYPE HANDSTAMP top right, Forwarding Agent crossed out the details and re-addressed it to Dorset and endorsed the letter ‘Pr Ship Wm. Byrnes’, rated manuscript ‘1/8’ (d) stg due (8d ship letter plus 1/- inland postage), ‘LIVERPOOL SHIP LETTER’ step-type boxed receiver on back, ink smears from re-direction, etc on front, still a scarce PARTIALLY PRE-PAID FORWARDED TRANS-ATLANTIC LETTER.
