image France. 1914 (Jan 5) "Daily Mail, Riviera Supplement", special four page edition printed in Nice, flown from there to the Riviera as a publicity stunt organised by the newspaper, the plane piloted by M. Salmet, the newspapers dropped in packets each attached to a paper parachute, with packets dropped at nine locations (one of which fell into the sea). Handstamped violet circular "BY SPECIAL / AEROPLANE DELIVERY" datestamp, signed by Salmet, later posted, the stamp (and wrapper) removed, very rare. Photo on Page 16. (Image1)
