Phila." imprints and full, brush-applied never hinged original gum; light, all-over toning, likely due to the aging gum, a neatly sealed horizontal tear through positions 138-140, and a few small, insignificant sealed edge tears, not affecting any stamps, Very Fine. Cat No: 40L1
City Despatch Post, 1842, 3¢ black on grayish, pre-printing paper folds (Scott 40L1), unused without gum, a massive stamp with nearly complete guidelines all around, remarkably bright for this issue; the appeal is heightened by the two pre-printing paper folds: the canyon through "THREE CENTS", plus a smaller diagonal crease at lower left, Extremely Fine, rarely are these so pretty—and with so much additional eye-appeal, with 2008 P.F. certificate. Scott $375 ++. Estimate $500 - 750. (Image)
