image Documentary, 1871, Second Issue, 1¢ blue & black, center inverted (Scott R103a), a lovely mint example, remarkably fresh and exceptionally well centered with disturbed original gum; accompanying certificate notes a "faint thin" at the top, which, frankly, we can't even see, otherwise an Extremely Fine gem, ex "World Traveller" Collection, with a 2019 P.F. certificate.

The Philatelic Foundation has certified only one other unused example, that one being without gum.

image Documentary, 1871, Second Issue, 2¢ blue & black, center inverted (Scott R104a), a choice used example of this rare invert, fresh and beautifully centered with a clear 12/19/1871 manuscript cancel, Extremely Fine, the few well-centered examples all appear to have been used by the same firm, with a 2016 P.F. certificate.

The Isleham, Joyce, Zoellner and Tolman examples of this invert were all utilized by the same user as this one; their manuscript cancels were dated 12/15 & 12/27 of 1871, and 1/2 & 1/4 of 1872, respectively.

image Documentary, 1872, Third Issue, $1 green & black, center inverted (Scott R144a), exceptionally fresh and quite well-centered—better than most—with a neat manuscript cancel, "July 24, 1872"; faint, nicely pressed vertical crease at the left, otherwise Very Fine, with a 2016 P.F. certificate.

Larry Lyons' Census records just 20 off-document examples. Nearly all are faulty to some degree and most are poorly centered.
