Tax Paid Revenue, American Bank Note Co., ca. 1931, 5(¢) Taj Mahal Cigarette Tax die essay, in "80 A Rose" on India, mounted on a 9" x 6" card with typed archival notations including "Cigarette Tax (Decalcomania Stamp)" and "Issued on Decalcomania paper" with an attached (stapled) list of specifications for "50/ Cigarette tax" and "100/ Cigarette tax", Very Fine. A unique essay for a cigarette tax stamp that was apparently never issued. This is one of seven designs included (in this color) in the 1931 A.B.N.Co. salesmen's Sample Book and also one of four designs in the company's salesmen's Color Chart Books from the same period.
