image Yemen, 1939 (Aug. 15), Cover from Sanaa to Berlin, from the Imam of Yemen to Adolf Hitler, a remarkable cover franked by 4b and 20b adhesives (#24 and 28), each tied by Sanaa origin c.d.s.'s, addressed "A Son Excellence/Le Très Illustre Président/de La Très Haute République/de La Grande Allemagne/Hietler Le Grand/etc. etc. etc./à Berlin"; upper right corner of this large-size Registered A.R. cover shows red negative cachet of the Imam, with a second strike on reverse; sent "via Italy" with Aden (Aug. 20) and Maouia, Ethiopia transits, plus Berlin arrival postmark dated Nov. 20, 1939; minor expected edge wear, etc., Fine to Very Fine+,

In essence, this cover was mailed two weeks prior to the start of WWII, and arrived two-and-a-half months after the war began. An absolutely superb, jaw-dropping piece of postal history—a showpiece!
