Written on board the "S.S. Arab", which was being used as a troop ship, by a member of the 2nd Battalion West Riding Regiment, which was stationed in South Africa at the time. This soldier's letter was posted from Teneriffe, where the ship called en route from Southampton (Dec. 1895) to Cape Town.
