Manuscript postmark on 1870, 3¢ green entire to East River, Conn., with photocopy of first page of original enclosure headed "Camp in Arkansas, 10 miles below Cañon (City)", Very Fine, the only territorial postmark from this town, with Jarrett notation on reverse confirming this was from the 1874 section of this correspondence.

The arrival of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad brought about the establishment of Florence to serve the coal mines and oil fields between Pueblo and Canon City.

Rollinsville was located in northern Gilpin county founded by prospectors from Central City area. Frederick Gooch was appointed the first postmaster opening the office on January 31, 1871.
