Includes covers, facing slips, postcards, a few items on piece, etc. Noted better such as Fortune Bay TPO, Labrador TPO (3 types), ND Bay North, ND Bay South, and more, with 52 different items, including 21 covers. The owner paid up to $250 each for some of these items, some of which have rarity factors to 500. Condition is somewhat mixed, but strikes are generally good with many items being fine to very fine. 1896 Spoon Cove Broken Circle Postmark on Cover, mailed from Spoon Cove (Burin) on MAY.21.1896 to Halifax with MAY.29 receiver. The cover is franked with a 3c slate Queen Victoria, tied by a circular grid cancel. A very fine example of this rare datestamp, the existence of which was only recently confirmed. (Image)

8d Scarlet Heraldic Bisect on an 1860 Folded Cover, mailed from St John's Newfoundland on MAR.28.1860 (datestamp on front in red) to Baltimore, with APR.9 Boston transit on front and endorsed "via Halifax". The outer cover is franked with a bisect of the 8d scarlet Heraldic imperforate, properly tied by an oval grid cancel. Vertical file fold not affecting stamp, very fine. Expert signature below the stamp, also accompanied by a 1979 B.P.A. (London) certificate. A scarce bisect usage. Rsv. $3,600. (Image)

Group of 6 Registered Newfoundland Covers with Better Frankings, noting 15¢ triple weight registered to US 1898 (Scott 83), two Registered to US 1915 (one backflap off), 1899 Registered to Germany (31, 36), 1900 Registered to Germany (36, 48, 56) with 6c with imprint "American Bank Note Co. New York" at left and 1898 Registered to Germany (78, 81, 83). A very interesting lot, all scanned online. (Image)
15c Rate 1889 Cover to Australia, mailed from St John's on FE.9.1889 and addressed to Melbourne, Australia, through San Francisco (FEB.20 transit on back). Originally franked with a strip of three of the 5c dark blue Harp Seal and somewhere along the way a large part of the middle stamp got removed (remaining two are damaged), with "Stamp Lost / In Transit" boxed handstamp. There is also a red "PAID ALL" handstamp on front. Once arrived in Melbourne on APR.11, several attempts were made to try and find the addressee, with many hand written notes to that effect, as well as pink Letter Carrier handstamps on front. Both front and back show a boxed "Unclaimed At / Melbourne" handstamp, and the cover was opened at bottom and re-sealed with stamp selvedge, with a pencil "2/9/89" date, as well as an interesting note on back reading "Opened by Mrs. Strachan but not for her, 11/4/89." The back then shows several circular and boxed datestamps, mostly Dead Letter Office, dated OCT.10 and DEC.3. Very fine, and a rare destination for Newfoundland, plus a great story to boot. (Image)
5c Blue Harp Seal Single on Cover to Jersey, Channel Islands, mailed from Harbour Britain (faint broken circle on back) to Jersey (FEB.6.1896 receiver) through St John's and "Coastal T.P.O. West" (broken circle), franked with a single 5c blue Harp Seal tied by a cork cancel. Small piece backflap missing, still a good destination and fine. (Image)
Group of 22 Covers and Cards Franked with the 2c Newfoundland Map Stamp, 1908-1910, includes 9 covers and 15 postcards. Note covers from Carbonear, Grand Falls and St Georges, mostly to St John's. Postcards are mostly from St John's, but also note Curling, Placentia and Jerseyside c.d.s. cancels, all mailed to the US. The postcards are mostly very fine but one has a vertical fold. Covers may have minor faults from opening, usually at top. Usages on cover catalogued at $100, on postcard at $40 and also one front only not counted. A fairly scarce group, all scanned online. Butler in Sandy Point to the USA, a 1944 censored envelope from Channel to Valoise in Québec.
