image Advanced and Extensive Collection of Newfoundland Postal Stationery Cards and Covers, with a total of 117 items, starting with a collection well written-up on 23 large quadrille pages, including a little of everything, usually with a used and an unused example, plus many paper varieties, etc. The collection also includes a stack of unmounted covers and cards accumulated throughout the years. The collection is full of scarce, rare, and desirable items, for example a P1 used in April 1873 (first month of issue), two unused P5 surcharged cards, one with "worn T" variety, an unused L1 letter card, a used L1 letter card mailed registered to Germany, a P6 reply card mailed to the United States, and many more. There is duplication, still the collection contains many nice uprated examples mailed to Canada, United States, Austria, Switzerland, England, Prince Edward Island, etc., and there is also some postmark interest, as well as some of the cards have interesting business printings on back. We noted faults on some, otherwise an overall fine to very fine collection, and we have scanned all pages plus a selection from the stack of extra items. A rarely offered collection which should draw the attention of many collectors and dealers alike. (Image)
