1862 (30 Nov) FL from Barranquilla to New York, with "Forwarded by E. Isaacs & Co. Barranquilla" in oval, additional "Forwarded by W.C. Foster Commission Merchant/ Carthagena" on back, with appropriate docketing on back, attractive double-forwarded letter (Image)
1919 2c carmine rose, unused with full original gum, h.r., well centered with intact perforations, v.f. An unusually nice example of this air post rarity, signed Kessler, Sanabria and Roger Calves. Only 200 copies of this overprint were prepared for the experimental flight from Barranquilla to Puerto Colombia. Approximately 160 were used on covers. Overprinting was done in horizontal strips of 10, which were severed by knife, causing most of the stamps to be defective (catalogue value for a faulty copy) cat. $3500 (Cat No. C1) (Image)
1920 10c "Woman and Boy Watching Plane", unused without gum as issued, large balanced margins all around, beautiful colors, fresh and v.f., signed Kessler, also Dr.Enzo Diena, with his 1985 certificate. Only 38 unused examples have been recorded (Compania Colombiana de Navegacion Aerea was founded September 28, 1919. In February 1920, the C.C.N.A. obtained a franchise to fly between Cartagena and Barranquilla and was authorized to issue its own stamps. This was facilitated by overprinting Compania Colombiana de Navegacion Aerea Porte Aereo and surcharging $ 0.10 on the Curtiss Aereo Plane & Motor Co. advertising labels. Less than 100 of each of the nine types were produced. These stamps were used on two first flights on February 22, 1920 from Cartagena and returning March 4 from Barranquilla. In July 1920, the air mail concession was passed to SCADTA. The C.C.N.A. ceased to operate in April, 1922) cat. $4500 (Cat No. C2) (Image)
1920 10c Clouds and Small Biplane at Top, unused without gum as issued, large margins all around, some even toning on back only, still a v.f. stamp, quite difficult to find in sound condition, only 27 unused examples have been recorded, cat. $4500 (Cat No. C3) (Image)
1920 10c Tilted Plane Viewed Close-Up from Above, unused without gum as issued, huge margins, bright and fresh colors, minute hinge thin, otherwise v.f., one of the most difficult stamps to find in the series, only 31 unused examples recorded, cat. $4500 (Cat No. C4) (Image)
1920 10c Condor on Cliff, unused without gum as issued, large margins, clear at left, with overprint significantly shifted to right, bright colors, minor corner crease at bottom right, v.f., signed Champion. A rare stamp, only 36 unused examples have been recorded (virtually all known copies are cut in at left) (our last recorded realization at Cherrystone was $13,500 plus buyer's commission in our January 2019 sale) cat. $8000 (Cat No. C8) (Image)
